Background
After a chance encounter with a jewellery evening class I was suitably inspired to apply for my degree. I graduated from North Wales School of Art and Design with a BA (Hons) Jewellery/Metalwork with a 2:1.
So far I have two main collections. The first, Sumptuous Silver, has taken inspiration from drawings of nature and then translated the drawn line into silver, with just a subtle Japanese influence. A new floral range is currently being developed in pierced gilding metal which will be translated into powder coated steel some time soon, using subtle shades of grey.
The second is an extension of the sumptuous silver collection. I found that I enjoy using colour within my work whether it was a drawing or a piece of jewellery. Colour seems to have crept in. My latest collection, Colour Feast is just that. I’ve taken a touch of inspiration from nature, added a spot of texture and mixed with a splash of colour to create a playful collection that is a ‘Colour Feast’ for the eyes. The coloured designs are laser cut steel which I have then gone on to cut further leaves out so that each piece is unique, these have then been powder coated in a selection of colours and finally set in white precious metal.
